MLP: August and Everything After

Endless summer spectacular

Hello August! We hope everyone has been keeping cool, and has gotten (or is planning to get) their beach days in! It’s been a lovely summer and it’s been so exciting to see you all between vacations and your day-to-day excursions. We just wanted to let you know some of the things we’ve got coming up so you can see if you want to fit them into your schedule.

First up is the return of the Clicquot Book Club! Join us on Thursday, August 7th at 2pm for a book club where you don’t have to read anything to prep! Our presenter will be going over 10 or more books (spoiler free!) and giving you a chance to snag any of them that sound interesting. Share what you’ve been reading, hang with a lively group that loves books, and see what’s new and fun in the world of literature! No registration required, the only thing missing is you.

Then, we have the return of Color and Chill on Friday, August 8th! Stop by for some peace and relaxation with fresh coloring sheets, snacks, and all the supplies you’ll need. Or, if you’d prefer your own, bring them! We’re happy to support whatever art process brings you joy. As always, the room will be set up at 4:30pm to give you more time with your sheets (if you want it) and the music and snacks will start at 6:30pm!

No registration required.

We’d also like to remind you about an amazing collaboration we have going. For every kid who’s been self-conscious about their reading, we’re here to invite you to join us because we have sessions open for our Read to a Therapy Dog program! If your kid wants to practice reading, these pups are the perfect non-judgmental listeners. Recommended for children ages 5-10, all ages welcome. We have a lot of slots open for the dogs joining us on Saturday, August 9th, so check out our event calendar to see the available time slots and register for the one that works for you!

Next up, we’ve got the meeting of the Horror and Thriller book club ! Join us for this traditional book club on Monday, August 11th at 6:30pm to discuss “the Passengers” by John Marrs, a thriller set in an alternate future with “un-hackable” self-driving cars. Pick up your copy today at the front desk, finish up your last few chapters, and bring your friends to join us for a chillingly good time— no registration required!

We’re also coming up on the next showing of our Friday Features! Join us on Friday, August 15th at 1pm for light refreshment and a fun flick, courtesy of the Friends of the Millis Public Library. This month we’ll be showing “First Wives Club”, so bring your friends and settle in for a great, feel-good time! No registration required.

1996 (PG) 105min

Enjoyable fluff starring Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton as jilted wives seeking revenge on their philandering husbands.

And last but never least is the return of Board Game night! Join us on Thursday, August 21st at 6pm for another community game night for all~ Bring your favorite games to teach, or come play our featured pick, meet new friends, and face old rivals. Just register here to let us know you’re coming so we can pick the right kind of game— a game for four plays differently than a game for 10, after all!

As always, we’ve got more coming up than will fit in this newsletter, and that doesn’t even include the regular weekly programs! For a full list of everything we’ve got going on, check out our event calendar!

Until next time, stay safe, drink plenty of water, and we hope to see you again soon!
