MLP: Stellar September
So many offerings!
Hello friends!
We hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and enjoyed your labor day! We’re excited to get back to you with more programs and happenings at your favorite local library! We’re starting September out strong, so let’s dive straight into it!

First up is the return of the Clicquot Book Club! Join us on Thursday, September 4th at 2pm for this non-traditional book club where you don’t have to read anything beforehand! Our presenter goes through 10-12 books each month and lets you pick your favorites, order the ones you want to read later, and talks about them spoiler-free! No registration required, the only thing missing is you!

We’d also like to welcome our teens back for a brawl— Super Smash Brothers style! Join us on Friday, September 5th for Super Smash Night for Teens as we let them duke it out in a blood-free virtual stage! Starting at 6:30pm, the games will begin, leaving them to prove their mastery and move sets, knock their opponents out of bounds, and see who will claim victory! Register here to claim your/their spot, and let the games begin!

It’s also almost time for the return of our therapy dog friends! If your child has trouble reading, we welcome you to join us and let them practice with a sweet, non-judgemental listener with our Read to a Therapy Dog program! We still have a couple spots open on Saturday, September 6th at 2:15pm and a number of them open for the following Saturday, September 13th at 1:45pm, 2pm and 2:15pm, so register to claim the time that works for you!

With the return of the school year also comes the return of Make it Monday, a weekly craft for students in 3rd-6th grade. We’ll be starting on Monday, September 8th at 4pm, so register here to claim your spot, and check out our event calendar to see the other dates we have activities planned! Hurry, before we fill back up!

And speaking of kids crafts, we’ve got something new up our sleeves! Join us for Cardboard club, starting on Tuesday, September 9th at 4pm, for an 8 week program where we'll build creations out of cardboard! Using picture books for inspiration, we'll build the props that help tell a story. For children in 2nd-5th* grade, register here to get started! Register here for the first session, build your progress between, and check out our event calendar to see the rest of the dates!
*We ask that parents of 2nd graders plan to stay in the room, and parents of 3rd graders stay in the building. 4th and 5th grade students can be dropped off per library policy.

We’d also like to invite you back for the next meeting of the Horror and Thriller Book Club! Join us on Monday, September 8th at 6:30pm for a chillingly good time as we discuss Scott Smith’s “The Ruins”. Copies are available at the desk if you want to join our fun and lively group, no registration required!

We’ve also got the return of Color and Chill coming up! Take a “you” day and join us on Friday, September 12th with new coloring sheets and all the art supplies you’ll need. If you want to bring your own, go for it, so long as it brings you joy! We just want to create a nice, calm space for you to play in. As always, the room will be set at 4:30pm if you want extra time with your coloring, and music and snacks will start at 6:30pm. No registration required.

We’re also super excited to remind you about our upcoming collaboration with the Mass Audubon as we host Owls of Massachusetts! Join us on Tuesday, September 16th at 6pm in the Roche Bros Community Room to learn more about these amazing avians. This presentation covers owls that live in the Commonwealth seasonally and year-round. Discover their unique natural history, their significance in local habitats, conservation efforts to protect them, and the best times, locations, and methods for identifying owls by sight and sound. This program will feature one live owl.
While no registration is required for this program, if you’d like email reminders, please register here!
This program is generously brought to you by the Friends of the Millis Public Library.

It’s time to move! Join us for a Kid’s Musical Scavenger Hunt featuring local children's performers Elijah T. Grasshopper and Friends! We’ll be rocking out as we search on Thursday, September 18th at 4pm. Recommended for children age 2-8, no registration required!
This program is generously sponsored by the Millis Cultural Council.

Calling all board game enthusiasts— it’s time for another Board Game Night! Join us on Thursday, September 18th at 6pm to play your favorite games, learn new games, and meet new board game buddies in the community.
We will provide different featured games each month and welcome gamers of all levels. Feel free to bring in your favorite game to teach as well! Register here so we get a sense of how many/what kind of games we’ll need!

We’d also like to invite you in for a bit of secondhand nostalgia with Teen TV! Join us on Friday, September 19th at 6pm to jump back into the 90s with these three shows:
Boy Meets World
Full House
Family Matters
and see what some of the hottest TV looked like before the 2000s hit! For grades 6-8th, bring whatever you need to relax, and we’ll get the snacks. No registration required.
As always, we’ve got so much more going on than we can fit in any newsletter, so if you want the full run-down on our programs and events, check out our calendar of events! It’s the first place that gets updated when we’ve got something planned!
We hope something in here has struck your fancy, and that we’ll see you soon! Until then, enjoy the weather, get your beach days in, triumph over your homework, and take care of yourselves.
