MPL: A November to Remember
The morsels that make it
Hello from the past!
I hope the future is treating you well! As you know, we at the Millis Public Library are closed today, but we didn’t want to leave you wondering what was coming up!
First up is a head’s up! With November in full swing, we’ve got a couple early dismissals coming up in the near future. The first one will be tomorrow, November 12th and the second will be November 26th, so if you need to use the library, just be aware that things may be a little crazier than you’re used to and room availability will be more limited.
We also can’t believe it’s almost time for this, but Thanksgiving is on the horizon. The Library will be closing early— at 12pm— on Wednesday, November 26th, and will remain closed through Saturday, November 29th for the holiday. We’ll return to normal hours for Monday, December 1st, and will be open normal hours leading up to that Wednesday, so stop in to pick up any books, movies, or games you may want before the very long weekend. There will be another reminder in the next newsletter, but we wanted to give you a heads up before then.

Going back to this week, we’re also pleased to tell you that the next Board Game Night will be this upcoming Thursday, November 13th at 6pm! Whether you’re a new gamer or a seasoned pro, there’s a spot for you at our table. Come meet new friends, bring your own friends to play new games, or bring a favorite to teach! We’ll have a different featured game each month, but we’re always game (pun intended) to learn something new! Register here to let us know what kind of game to bring out— a game for 4 is much different than a game for 12 after all!

We’ve also got the return of Color and chill this week! Join us on Friday, November 14th for another day of ‘you’ time with chill music, snacks, and new coloring sheets. We’ll have everything you need to create, but feel free to bring your own project or supplies if you’d rather work on them! The room will be open and set at 4:30pm if you want more time for yourself, but the snacks and music will start at 6:30pm! No registration required.

We had so much fun with the Creative Play Art Class that we invited them back! Join us on Monday, November 17th at 10:30am and make art with Awbree from Bunkhouse Creative. Recommended for children ages 2-5, all ages welcome. No registration required!

Improv Games for Kids is returning to the library, and we couldn’t be more thrilled~ Learn the basics of Improv through fun games! Each session will be different, so sign up for all of them and roll with any situation! We’ll be having our games on Tuesday, November 18th and Tuesday, November 25th at 4pm, so sign up to claim your spot. For students in 3rd-6th grade.

We’ve also got another movie coming up, so we hope you’re ready for the next showing of our Friday Features! Join us on Friday, November 21st for “The Book of Eli”. We’ll be starting at 1pm, and there will be snacks, courtesy of the Friends of the Library!
2009 (R) 118min
Eli roams a post apocalyptic world, protecting a sacred tome that offers guidance on how to rebuild humanity. The evil Carnegie goes to great lengths to acquire the powerful book, but Carnegie's adopted daughter, who wants to escape her dad's clutches, helps Eli.

And for a fun change of pace in our teen programs, we’re doing Scrapbooking for Middle School! Bring your photos, notes, ticket stubs, and more mementos on Friday, November 21st at 6:30pm and we'll provide you with a binder, scrapbooking paper, and plenty of stickers! Register here to claim your supplies~
This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Millis Library.

Last but never least on our upcoming agenda is Writer’s Space! Join us for our monthly get together of writers on Tuesday, November 25th at 7pm and work on whatever your heart desires! Whether you want to build your masterpiece, flesh out that scene, or doodle nonsense, we’ve got your back! We’re just here to help you find that word, write, and offer support with snacks to help keep the juices going! No registration required.
We may not be in the building today, but we absolutely appreciate you all. If you’re looking for an emergency read, check out our e-resources page. Find a read-alike on Novelist and then get a digital copy of the book through Libby or Hoopla. Or pull up a playlist on Freegal and maybe start a new series on Kanopy. The possibilities are endless~
If you want to take a peek at what’s coming next or see the programs that didn’t make it into the newsletter, check out our event calendar! Either way, we hope something in here strikes your fancy, and until we see you next, take care of yourselves and have a fantastic holiday.
