Slipping into Fall
Hello friends, and welcome to September! It feels like I say this every time, but it feels like the year is flying by whenever I’m not looking at it. Even though fall is right around the corner, we’ve still likely got some hot summer-esque days coming, and I hope you get to enjoy them. And if summer isn’t your thing, you can still look forward to the mellowing of the weather! Regardless, we hope you’ll find something of interest that’ll bring you out into the glorious weather and down to the library!
But first—get ready! We at the library have teamed up with MassHire and want to welcome you to join us this fall for a Community Job Fair! This is your chance to connect with local employers, explore new opportunities, and take the next step in your career.
Whether you're seeking a new job or looking to network, this event is the perfect opportunity to meet face-to-face with companies eager to hire. Don't miss out on this chance to make meaningful connections and advance your career! Join us on September 19th, 2024, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Millis Public Library, and pre-register here for easy access to the event. If you can’t access the site, give them a call at the Norwood office at (781) 269-5494 or the Framingham office at (508) 861-7993 for assistance.

Firstly, to our astonishment, we still have spaces available for our Mario Kart for Middle School program! Taking place this Friday, September 6 at 6:30pm, we’d like to invite you to join us in the race with/against our other drivers. Choose your character and car, and get ready to drive laps around your opponents. Face the trials of Rainbow road, blue shell the competition, and drift into first!
For grades 6-8. Register here to claim your spot, and may the best racer win!

Next in our lineup is another meeting of Color and Chill, this time on Friday, September 13 at 6:30pm. Come down and take a night for yourself with new coloring sheets, relaxing music, and light refreshments. We’ll have everything you need, and if you want to bring your own coloring gear, feel free! The important thing is that you get a chance to relax and enjoy yourself. Come early if you want more time, bring a friend— there’s no registration required

After that, we’ve got a very busy week coming. Our friends at the Naked Flower are returning to us on Tuesday, September 17 at 6pm for a program on how best to do your Fall Cleaning. Join Jenna Elliot, professional organizer and founder, for this presentation giving you a step-by-step approach to a cleaner house with a little less clutter. Jenna will share tips on: best cleaning products, how to start decluttering a space, 10 things that will need a good cleaning by autumn, and tackling your paper trail! No registration necessary, but if you want email reminders, click here.

After that, we’ve got the return of Board Game Night on Thursday, September 19th at 6pm. Play your favorite games, learn new games, and meet new board game buddies in the community! We’ve got a different featured game each month, and welcome gamers of all levels. Feel free to bring in your favorite game to teach as well! Please register so we get a sense of what kind of games we will need— there’s a difference in a game for up to four and a game for up to ten, after all. And, if you’ve got any questions, contact Kim at [email protected] or 508-376-8282!

Then, to wrap up the week, we’ve got another Teen Anime Night planned! Come down for Friday, September 20th at 6pm to catch the first three episodes of the action-comedy “One Punch Man”. Get ready to laugh at an absurd hero, who may just be what the world ordered, bring a friend, and we’ll get the snacks!
In a world of superhuman beings, Saitama is a unique hero— he can defeat enemies with a single punch. But being just one hero in a world filled with them, his life is empty and hollow: he gets no respect from anyone, he displays a laid back attitude to everything and for the most part, he finds his overall hero life pointless... and worst of all, he lost his hair due to intense training. These are the adventures of an ordinary yet extraordinary hero.
Recommended for grades 6-8, no registration required!
As always, there’s so much more that we don’t have space for, but if you want to see the full list of programs, check out our event calendar!
