MPL: Jumping July
Fresh as a breeze
It’s July! The season is in full swing, and we’ve got some things going to beat the heat! (We mean that both figuratively and literally— we’re a cooling station!)

Starting strong: students entering 4th-8th grade are invited to come play along with our Taylor Swift Musical BINGO! What is musical BINGO? When a song on your card is played, you cross it out, 5 songs in a row wins a small prize. Snacks will be served and coloring materials will be put out for music fans that like to keep their hands busy while listening. Socializing is welcome, chatting while the music plays makes it all more fun! We’ll be hosting it on Thursday, July 11th at 6:30pm— no registration required!

Next— you knew it was coming! Color and Chill has another session this Friday, July 12th! The program officially starts at 6:30pm, but stop in earlier if you want to get a head start on your coloring sheet of choice! We’ll have everything you need to relax and enjoy yourself, but if you want to bring your own books or supplies, go ahead! We just want to let you have a night for yourself before your crazy weekend! No registration required!

And after you’ve relaxed with us, if you have littles, get ready to laugh with us! Join Susie Maguire, award-winning storyteller and teacher on Saturday, July 13th, for a fun, and educational program about… poop! The Poop Museum will start at 10:30am for kids ages 5-10, teaching them all about the fascinating facts around human, animal, and insect poop— many of which will truly amaze you. Also, we'll laugh a lot because— well— our subject is POOP!
The Poop Museum covers the serious science of poop and pooping and is delivered with the silliness that you might imagine accompanying a program about poop for young kids. It is the perfect combination of fun, and fabulous, fascinating facts so that kids (and parents) never forget what they learned. No registration required.

Then for next week, we have Mike Piazza coming back! Join us on Tuesday, July 16th to see his Flying High Dogs and check out all the flips, tricks, and catches from these amazing 4-legged athletes! The all-ages show will start at 5:30pm in the library courtyard, rain or shine, and we advise you to come early to grab a good spot. No registration required, but to avoid distracting the performers, we ask that you please leave your own dogs at home for this event.

Summer programing is in full swing, and we still have some spots open for the next few Creative Corners! Join us on Thursdays, July 18th and July 25th at 4pm for an art project geared towards children entering 1st-3rd grade. Registration is required to attend each craft. Younger siblings are welcome, but please register them if they will participate in the craft!

Calling all board game enthusiasts! Board Game Night will be returning Thursday, July 18th for 6pm. Stop by to play your favorite games, learn new games, and meet new board game buddies in the community. We will provide different featured games each month and welcome gamers of all levels. Feel free to bring in your favorite game to teach as well!
Please register so we get a sense of how many/what kind of games we will need! Any questions, contact Kim at [email protected] or 508-376-8282 with questions.

Are you ready for another Teen Movie Night? Bring your blankets, pillows and friends, and we’ll supply the popcorn! This time we’ll be showing Disney/Pixar’s “Turning Red” on Friday, July 19th at 6pm. For grades 6-8, no registration required!
Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee, a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda!

Last but certainly not least on our list, it’s time for another Memory Cafe and we want to invite you to come spend the morning with us!
A memory café is a welcoming place for individuals and families living with memory changes. Each café event will feature a guest artist or performer, time for conversation, as well as coffee and refreshments.
Millis Memory Café will be held next on Monday, July 22nd from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon in the Roche Brothers Community Room. All are welcome and there is no cost to attend. Contact Kim at [email protected] or visit millislibrary.org/memorycafe for more information.
As always, we’ve got more going that can’t make it into our newsletter— we can’t have you scrolling forever! To see a full list of upcoming programs, check out our events calendar!
