The joy of programming
Hello, and welcome!
We hope everyone had a wonderful 4th! Now that you’re back, we hope to see you stopping by to grab your next great read, watch, or pick up a game to play! Or, if you feel so inclined, check out what we’ve got coming up!

First up is the sly return of our Clicquot Book club! While this is normally held on the first Thursday of the month, we moved it Thursday, July 10th at 2pm so as not to interfere with anyone’s holiday plans. So, if you love books and talking books, join us for a book club with no required reading, where you get to pick your favorites of this month’s review (spoiler free), and spend time with like-minded folks! No registration required~

Color and Chill is also returning for the end of the week, and we’d love to see you there! Join us this Friday, July 11th for another night of dedicated ‘you’ time. Coloring has been scientifically proven to help you relax, so stop by and give yourself a a chance to unwind before your busy weekend. We’ll have everything you need, but feel free to bring your own projects or supplies if that sparks joy. As always, snacks and music will start at 6:30pm, but the room will be set up at 4:30pm if you want more time! No registration required.

And if you want a more traditional book club than Clicquot, the Horror and Thriller Book Club is right around the corner! Join us on Monday, July 14th at 6:30pm as we discuss Alex Michaelides’ “The Silent Patient”. Copies are available at the desk if you want to pick one up for a quick read over the week/weekend. No registration required, and we eagerly await your presence!

We also hope you’re ready for another community get-together with Board Game Night! Join us on Thursday, July 17th at 6pm to play your favorite games, learn new games, and meet new board game buddies in the community. We’ll have a different featured game each month, and welcome gamers of all levels. Feel free to bring in your favorite game to teach as well if you’ve been looking for some new people to play with!
Please register here so we get a sense of what kind of games we’ll need— a game for 4 players is very different from one that can host 10, after all! If you have any questions, feel free to ask Kim!

We’re also pleased to tell you that our monthly movie is coming up! Join us on Friday, July 18th for our Friday Features. Starting at 1pm, we’ll be showing “the Accountant”, so come out, cool down, and have some snacks as you watch the film on the ‘big screen’. No registration required.
Christian Wolff (Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

We also hope you’re ready to beat the heat with another Teen Movie Night! This time we’ll be showing “Matilda”, the classic movie about standing up to your bullies (with maybe a bit of supernatural powers) on Friday, July 18th at 6pm. As always, bring your friends, blankets, and whatever you may want to feel comfortable— we’ve got the snacks! For kids grades 6th-8th, no registration required.
An intelligent little girl who is neglected by her parents discovers that she has telekinetic powers. Not until a teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use those powers to do something about her sufferings and help her friends as well.

And last but never least is the monthly meeting of Writer’s Space! Join us on Tuesday, July 22nd at 7pm for a loosely focused gathering of writers. Share ideas, frustrations, lyrics and triumphs. Free write or finish your masterpiece. We don't even care if you doodle nonsense. We just want to see you put pen/pencil/stylus/keyboard to page/paper/screen/program and have some light refreshments.
Each month we offer a prompt to get your creativity flowing, and this month it is “Changing Tides”. No registration required~
As always, there’s a lot happening that doesn’t fit in our newsletter. If you want to see a full list of our upcoming programs, check out our event calendar! It’s the first place everything goes when we’re ready.
Until next time, stay safe and stay cool,
Your friendly neighborhood Librarians
